Web tool predicts election results and stock prices News Scientist
Tools such as Google Trends and Blogpulse track what people are talking or thinking about by recording the frequency with which words are entered into search engines and appear on blog sites. Now Peter Gloor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is going a step further, and using the web to make specific predictions. Kai Fischbach - Chief Scientist

Kai Fischbach is a Research Associate with the Department of Information Systems and Information Management at the University of Cologne (Germany). He is also Associate Director of the Center for Applied Social Network Analysis (CASNA) in Cologne. His areas of expertise include the analysis of communication networks and the design of efficient information exchanges. He studied mathematics and social science at the University of Siegen (Germany). From 2001-2003 he was a Research Assistant at the Otto Beisheim Graduate School of Management (Germany) where he received his Ph.D. In 2003 he was Visiting Scholar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA). He received scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German National Merit Foundation.

Peter A. Gloor - Chief Creative Officer and Founder

Peter Gloor has been working on visualizing knowledge and analyzing social networks for the last 15 years, leading to the development of Cybermap, a navigation tool for the Web, and to TeCFlow, a tool combining Web navigation with social network analysis. He founded galaxyadvisor's predecessorTeKFlo, Inc. in 2004. He is a Research Scientist at the Center for Collective Intelligence at MIT's Sloan School of Management where he leads a project exploring Collaborative Innovation Networks.   He was Mercator Visiting Professor at the University of Cologne, and is a lecturer at Helsinki University of Technology. Until the end of 2002, Peter was a Partner with Deloitte Consulting, leading its E-Business practice for Europe. Before that, he was a Partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Section Leader for Software Engineering at UBS.

Jonas S. Krauss - Chief Knowledge Officer

Jonas Krauss studied Information Systems at the University of Cologne with specialization in Information Management and Supply Chain Management, his diploma thesis covered Business Policy and Logistics. During a seminar at the Department of Information Systems and Information Management he developed an innovative method for the evaluation of communication networks and trend predictions in collaboration with Stefan Nann. Besides internships in the area of business consulting and airline IT management he visited the Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu for a semester abroad. Jonas Krauss also works as a research associate and doctoral student at the Chair of Information Systems and Information Management at the University of Cologne. Subject of his research is social network analysis and the development of automated sentiment analysis for communication networks to derive trend predictions.

Stefan Nann - Chief Coolhunting Officer

Stefan Nann studied Information Systems at University of Cologne (Germany). He also works as a research associate for the Department of Information Systems and Information Management at University of Cologne. His areas of expertise include the development of analysis methods for efficient and automatic evaluation of online communication channels, particularly online discussion boards and blogs and the identification of new “cool” trends on the web. Stefan completed several internships for companies from different industries. He has experience in the consulting business and worked as a project manager for a German eBusiness agency. He studied at San Diego State University and gained working experience abroad by supporting Ravensburger F.X. Schmid USA, Inc. in a Supply Chain Management project. Stefan currently is a PhD student with the Department of Information Systems and Information Management at University of Cologne in the field of Social Network Analysis.
